Bearpaw, Ugg, or Emu Boots? Which Australian Shearling Designer Boots Are The Best For You?

By

Christmas Boots

I wanted to get my daughter a pair of designer boots this year for Christmas. In particular I wanted to get her a pair of the oh so popular Australian shearling boots. I had a particular brand in mind thanks to Oprah and her favorites list and began looking on Amazon.com, Macy's, and Dillards to see where I could find the best deal. To my surprise I discovered not only the brand of boots I was looking for, but I also found two additional designer brands of boots that looked very similar. I began researching Ugg Boots, Bearpaw Boots, and Emu Boots to find out what the difference was between the brands, and was surprised by what I found out. If you are going to purchase a pair of boots for yourself or someone special this year, read this hub first so you can make the best choice possible.

Oprah's Favorite Ugg Boots

Decker's Outdoor Corporation owns Ugg of Australia. The company manufactures shoes, boots, clothing, and accessories for men, women, and children. They use a variety of materials from wool to leather, but by far the most popular and recognized material in their signature boots and slippers is sheepskin. Their footwear is made with twin-face sheepskin that has had both the skin and the fleece treated. The grade A sheepskin in their products breathes naturally which allows air to circulate so your feet stay dry. Ugg products come with a one year warranty that covers defects in the products material and workmanship.

Ugg's popular shearling boots are available in a variety of sizes including tall, ultra tall, short, and mini. Colors include chocolate, black, grey, sand, and chestnut. The boots also come in knitted, sparkled, and embellished varieties. The high end boots cost between $100-$300.

EMU

The  Emu company is based in Geelong, Australia the birthplace of Ugg boots (is it any coincidence that the products carried by both companies looks so similar?). Emu manufactures footwear, clothing, and cold weather accessories for the entire family using sheepskin and merino wool.

Emu carries a large line of really cute products for babies and children. Their girl's ladybug boots and boy's bear boots are adorable as are the butterfly, monster, and flower designs. They also carry a line of sheepskin booties for babies and toddlers that will help keep your little ones piggies toasty and warm.

Emu has a wider variety of boots than Ugg, and while several of the styles are almost identical, Emu boots are embellished with buttons, vintage metal buckles, suede lacing, and ties that give the boots a unique look. The company also has boots that are a combination of merino wool and sheepskin. Emu's products are about half the price of Uggs and from the reviews that I've read the quality is just as high.  If you are in the market for the shearling boots, the Emu brand is worth a second look.

Bearpaw

My son's girlfriend introduced me to Bearpaw boots when I asked her about Uggs. She has both brands and said that she prefers the Bearpaws. The Bearpaw company was started in 2001 by Tom Romeo. The company uses the same sheepskin materials that Ugg and Emu do as well as the merino wool common in Emu's to create quality footwear for the entire family. The boots look very similar to Ugg and Emu boots but cost half the price of those brands.

Bearpaw carries footwear exclusively and has a line of footwear and slippers for the youngsters on your list. Their children's collection is cute as is their collection of slipper and booties for babies and toddlers. Their men's collection consists of a variety of slipper styles and midhigh boots in a variety of colors.

I hope you find this hub helpful when shopping for footwear for yourself or the special people on your list. Here's wishing you have warm tootsies this winter!!

Great Hub! Love the video on the spotting the fake. It makes me sad that fakes exist.

I love my tootsies warm and comfortable!

Very good hub. I own all three and prefer my Uggs but I suppose everyone is different. I found that my bearpaw boots wore a little easier than the uggs do and the Emu boots are very warm but I didn't like the style that I got so I guess I haven't given them much of a chance. In my opinion though, all of them are very high quality and very warm :)

Nice hub! The silver-grey Uggs look super! Why buy crazy brands when amazon has some rather pretty shoes, eh? :)

Iloveit!
