July 11,2010 Update Making Money on Hubpages this Summer

Day 3
Well I am off to a good start. I haven't made close to my $1000 goal yet, but I have learned a lot of things that are very beneficial and will help me reach my finish line (maybe even surpass it). It's amazing all of the things that you can learn just off of hubpages. What's even greater still is the willingness of people to share what they know with you without getting anything in return. I guess that is why I feel compelled to "pay it forward" if you will and create my own hubs that will hopefully help others as they set off on their own journeys. The first part of my hub today piggy backs off of my previous post on social bookmarking and the things I have learned in just the past few days.

Great Hubs Giving More Money Making Tips
- Joined Hubpages 2 Months ago - Not Making Money, Read this
Today I received an email from a new hubber. Just saw you on hubpages, gone through your profile, felt interesting, jumped to your blog, copied your email and now mailing you. Actually, I have joined hubpages...
Piggyback to Google Adwords
In my last hub I discussed my new understanding of social bookmarking and the importance of joining the sites. I joined www.infopirate.org listed a few of my hubs and began writing in my site blog. I received an email from javaman where he encouraged me to use Google Keywords as a tool to find the best keywords for my hubs. I thought that was a great idea and began playing with the program, picked a few keywords, and thought I had done well. WRONG! I wasn't maximizing the usefulness of the tool and choosing the most targeted and most profitable keywords. He sent me parameters that I could use during my searches that guaranteed that I would be able to select the keywords that were searched for most thereby maximizing the usefulness of the tool.
Confused yet? Don't be-I am going to break it down for you.
- Use this link to go to Google Adwords: http://adwords.google.com/
- Click on the opportunities tab at the top of the page.
- Click on the keywords tool on the left hand side of the page.
- You will be directed to a page where you can input your keyword.
- Under the keyword box you will see a blue link that is labeled ADVANCED OPTIONS, click on the plus sign.
- Move the locations and languages to all countries.
- Move the filter keyword tab to Global Monthly Searches
Set your first parameter as Global Monthly Searches >= 1000 Add another parameter Global Monthly Searches <= 1,000,000 Add another parameter this time use the drop down menu to select Estimated Average CPC > 0.75
What did you just do? You set the parameters for your search to return the keywords that have more than 1000 searches but less than 1,000,000 and pay at least 75 cents per click-Pretty Awesome!!!
Javaman has offered to show me ways to block the low paying ads from my hubs-an offer I plan to take him up on it-so check back for a hub written on this subject.
Demand Studios
I found out about writing Demand Studios last week from this hub written by Mark Knowles: http://hubpages.com/hub/making-money-online-with-freelance-writing. After reading the hub I went to the Ehow website, submitted some of my work to Demand Studios, and was accepted as a writer. Within a week I selected and wrote my first article and had it published on Ehow.
Demand Studios pays $15 through paypal for each article that they accept for publication. I've read other hubs where some people believe that Demand Studios doesn't pay enough, and for them that is probably true, but for me as someone just starting out and working toward a specific goal, I'll take the payment and say "Thank You" with a big smile.
Here is a link to one of my articles on Ehow: http://www.ehow.com/list_6610491_ama-moving-up-motocross-class.html

My Goals Before My Next Hub
It's Monday so I have set the following work goals for myself this week:
- Join several more social bookmarking sites
- Update information on current social bookmarking sites
- Write and submit at least 2 more articles for Ehow
- Find out what the heck RSS feeds are and how to use them
- Find out what anchor text is and how to use it in my hubs
- Find out how to maximize my Amazon account
I am sure that I will add to my list by Friday, if you can think of any helpful information that will help me with these issues or with anything else that will help me reach my August goal-leave me a comment, I really appreciate them.

After updating the table tracking my progress I have to scratch my head. I honestly thought that I would be a little further ahead at this point. My total right now is $97.27 thanks to the money I have made off of writing for Demand Studios and winning $25 on Redgage. I'm waiting for my 3rd article to be approved on Demand Studios so that I can begin to write more. They have a policy where you have to write 3 article and have them approved before you are allowed to continue writing for them.
I've continued to link my articles via ping.fm, infopirates, redgage, wordpress, blogger, and buzz on yahoo. I think I am going to take a break this weekend, clear my head, and start fresh on Monday morning.

Fantastic article! Good luck in your endeavors!
I'm with you, lets start a makes thousands this summer crusade. I found this very inspiring, thanks :)
Another inspirational hub to keep me motivated. I get very happy reading success stories since we all are sailing in the same boat. Cheers to many more great earnings and successes.
great hub mikicagle..by sharing your goal and inspire others. lets reach "$1000 in community"....My experience on amazon can help my earning better than adsense. May some hubber can help and support each other their technique and experience to reach $1000 goal.
Interesting to read other people's goals and how they approach reaching them - I have set a $1000 target per month in a year's time doing things part time - however this was without hubs (was just using hubs for backlinks) but the more I read I think that the $1000 must be possible using hubs alone - definitely agree that keyword choice is paramount - do you check to see if competitors for the keywords are highly ranked before using them? Try SEOBOOK free download tools for Firefox (apologies if you already use this but it is better to choose keywords that are valuable but not competitive i.e. there is no point in having a title where 1000000 people search and clicks are worth $10 each if you can never get any traffic because the keywords take people to better ranked sites!)
Keep trying and you will reach your goals. The success will snowball. Good luck!
