Great Hubs and Websites to Visit If You Want To Make Money Online

My Summer Journey

I began my summer journey to make $1000 using Hubpages and Adsense on June 4, 2010.  Since that day I have spent countless hours on the internet reading hubs, writing articles, visiting websites, joining groups, and searching for advice.  As I was laying down to take a nap today because of exhaustion due to constant internet overload syndrome it struck me that I haven't recorded the places I've been or the groups I have joined anywhere.  As a result I'm not sure exactly where I've been or what I've done.  Sure I remember some of the things that I find myself doing often: visiting google adwords, posting on infopirate, posting on hubpages, and reading advice from specific hubbers, but I don't remember some of the things that I've done just once or twice.  I know I have signed up on various sites-but I don't remember which ones.  That's why I am writing this hub-to document what I have done and where I have been so that I have a reference point to go to when my mind gets cloudy.  This hub will also serve as a guide to anyone who wants to join me on my journey and possibly make their own $1000 by August.

Helpful Hubs

Sites I Joined

Here is a list of the different sites that I have joined. I arranged them in order from the ones I use most to the ones I only visited once. Are they good sites for driving traffic to my hubs? I don't know yet, it's too early in the process to tell. In about a month I will go back and review the effectiveness of each site and let you know.

  1. Demand Studios-Writers who join Demand Studios are paid via paypal for each article that is accepted. I have had 2 articles published so far and have been paid for both of them. You can choose from a large variety of topics and I have found that the turnaround time to submitting an article and hearing from the editor is less than 24 hours.
  2. Webs.com-I used webs.com to set up my own website. It's free and pretty easy to navigate.  Check mine out at www.mikicagle.webs.com
  3. Redgage-Redgage is a social bookmarking site where you can upload your articles, pictures, and links. The people are really friendly and the site is easy to use. I use this site to create backlinks to my hubpages articles.
  4. Xomba-Xomba is a social bookmarking website where you upload your content. The site is very easy to use.
  5. InfoPirate-Infopirate is another social bookmarking site where you can upload your content. I haven't seen much traffic from this site yet-but I have gottten alot of very good advice regarding keywords from one of the site administrators. What I have learned from javaman is very much worth the time I have spent on the site posting.
  6. Ping.fm-Ping is a site that sends your new content out to various social bookmarking sites at one time-creating backlinks to your hubs.
  7. I joined the following sites through ping.fm. I haven't really used them yet but I will visit each one at length this weekend: Plurk, Xanga, WordPress, Tumblr, Bebo, Review Party, Bibsonomy.

What's Next

This entire process has gotten so much bigger than I ever anticipated.  When I started my journey I didn't have my own website, wasn't being paid outright for my writing, didn't know what social bookmarking was, was fuzzy on my understanding of backlinks, didn't know how to find the best keywords-and the list goes on and on.  At this time I have no idea where this journey is going to take me or where I am ultimately going to wind up, The only thing I know is that I have learned more than I ever thought I would about the process of writing on the internet.

Please let me know if you have any questions-I would love to hear your comments.

I used to write for Ehow but haven't ventured to Demand yet. Maybe after I've written my 100 Hubs. Great article.

I have to admit it was pretty fun looking the articles up with my husband and actually seeing them online.

I will have to bookmark and go over it good. Thanks for the information. A friend of mine said she wrote here for months with Adsense and had only made a dime so she got the ads off and just uses it for fun, but sounds like you any know a way. Her stuff was good though and a real variety. I guess it needs to be geared toward ads?
