Using The Stats Button and Share Button On Your Published Hubs to Increase Traffic

A friend asked me yesterday how I found out about Hubpages and after I thought about it I realized that I didn't know. I honestly can't remember how I found out about Hubpages or Adsense. The only thing I do remember is hearing that one of my son's friend's father made money online by putting ads on websites. I did some research on the subject and somehow I stumbled across Adsense and Hubpages and began writing.

I've been on the sites for over 7 months now and am surprised at how much I still don't know. I am grateful to the experienced hubbers who provide valuable informational hubs and who like to use the forum to pass on their tips. I'm writing this hub because I want to pass on some of the information that recently learned that is helping to make my whole writing process easier and saving me a ton of time. It's my hope that newer hubbers read this, apply the information to their own hubs, and reap the benefits of increased traffic.

There's a tool bar located at the top of all of our published hubs with 4 buttons. I used the edit button all the time when I wanted to work on my hub but I never bothered to use the STATs button. What a mistake. This is one of the most valuable tools available to hubbers and since I discovered its usefulness I use it regularly. The STATs button will show you exactly where the traffic to your hub is coming from. It lists information from search engines, hubpages, bookmarking sites, social networks, and blogs. You can view traffic sources for a day, a week, or a month. There is even a colored graph for those hubbers who prefer a visual. Once you analyze the data concerning where your traffic is coming from you can take steps to improve the flow of traffic.

The STATs button also shows you the keywords or search terms people used to find your hub. It's even broken down by search engines. This is an awesome tool because once you see the keywords that actually brought the traffic to your hub, you can include that keyword or phrase in your tags. I did that for all of my hubs yesterday and increased my traffic by at least 10%.

The last thing I want to mention about using the STATs button is the Hub Metrics information. The Hub Metrics provides you with your hub's word count, income potential for the hub, incoming links, a short url for the hub, date the hub was created, and incoming links stats. I have found that I use this information to figure out which of my hubs has the potential to make the most money so I know the ones to spend the most time on when I am editing and improving my work.

I have to admit that I just found this information out yesterday and wish that I would have found it much sooner. It would have saved me sooooooo much time and work. If you click on the share button you will find links to sites where you can let other's know that you have written another informative, well written, valuable, hub. You can link to your facebook, myspace, blogger, and twitter accounts. You can also link to the social bookmarking sites stumbleupon, reddit, and digg. Hubpages is essentially providing you with easy ways to provide back links to your hub which will increase your number of readers. I already belonged to all three bookmarking sites and would create backlinks to them when I had extra time. I frequently forgot which hubs I put on each site. Now I can link the hub immediately after writing the it! This will save me a load of time and help me keep me organized. I spent about an hour linking all of my hubs to my digg account last night and guess what? As soon as I did I saw my traffic increase!

I wish that hubpages would add other sites to their share option. It would be great if they would add yahoo buzz and infopirates-but I am grateful for the sites they have now.
